From costumes to Christmas trees to Champagne toasts at midnight, life is a bit of a blur from late October to New Year’s Eve. Between wrapping up work deadlines, finding the perfect gift for everyone on your list and nonstop eating, drinking and being merry, there’s hardly any time to catch your breath — let alone sleep. Throw in a presidential election, stressful travel days in crowded airports and family drama, and it’s completely understandable why we could all use some time away and a hefty dose of self-care as we enter the new year.
That’s why we’re big proponents of booking yourself a few days somewhere tranquil and gorgeous with wellness amenities and programming like pampering spas, yoga classes and forest bathing to celebrate surviving another holiday season and another year of adulting, or to get a head start on those “be healthier” New Year’s resolutions.
Experts like Debbie Dixon, a longtime life coach, self-help author and special guest on Windstar Cruises’ upcoming Mind, Body and Spirit Collection voyages, agree that a change of scenery can help kickstart permanent change in terms of managing stress and staying healthy.
“The best way to follow through with new habits is to change your environment, learn new tools and meet others looking for the same thing and what better way to do that than a wellness-inspired getaway,” Dixon says.
“It didn’t take me very long to discover that people set intentions to start fresh and live a life abundant with joy, purpose and community but before they know it, they fall into old patterns and forget transformation,” she explains. “When I could uproot my clients from their day-to-day routine and place them in a new environment, the results were almost always astronomically better.”
But having yet another plan with myriad moving parts to organize kind of defeats the purpose. That’s why an all-inclusive resort or wellness package — where accommodations, food, drinks and activities are included for one predetermined price — is the ideal remedy.
To give you even better odds of getting this trip off the ground, we’ve rounded up 13 of the best all-inclusive hotels, wellness retreats and/or packages for a mental health break in the early weeks of 2025.
The Horse Shoe Farm: Hendersonville, North Carolina
Set on a bend of the French Broad River in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains, the former cattle ranch comprises 85 green acres, lodging for up to 75 guests, a silo converted into a reflection room with nuggets of wisdom scrawled across the walls, two fishing ponds, farm animals, a pool, a farm-to-table restaurant and a horse stable reborn as a spa that offers a multitreatment journey meant to invoke love, release emotional blockages and cultivate inner peace.
The rural refuge will kick off its new Winter Wellness BEtreat Series in January. The two- or three-night programs, currently scheduled most weekends through March 9, include room and board, yoga, guided meditations and a $50 spa credit. They will broach a variety of subjects including the best-selling self-help teachings of Brené Brown, igniting the sacred feminine and breath work. One is built around Horse Shoe’s sweat lodge experience hosted by full-blooded Cherokee wisdom keeper Yona Frenchhawk. Can’t make those dates? Frenchhawk also holds lodge ceremonies to celebrate each new and full moon.
Rates for BEtreats at Horse Shoe Farm start at $1,150 per person.
Miraval Berkshires: Lenox, Massachusetts
There’s never a dull moment at Miraval Berkshires, a 380-acre wintry wellness wonderland and the third and newest member of the trusted 30-year-old brand that also has sprawling properties in Tucson and Austin, as its activity calendar is brimming with eclectic, immersive experiences. It has all the usual suspects (meditation activity, aqua barre, Pilates and workshops on nutritious plant-based eating), but a guest’s transformative path can also include hiking with a donkey (to force you to slow down and appreciate life), crafting herbal tinctures or pottery, ax throwing, equine therapy and raising chickens.
That vibe doesn’t stop once you retire. Eschewing the colonial antiques and quaint patterns typical of regional hotel design for a sophisticated, serene look, each of the 121 mansion rooms, cottages and carriage houses feature meditation channels, Tibetan singing bowls, billowy down bedding, a meditation cushion, filtered water and a cell-phone sleeping bag.
Rates for Miraval Berkshires start at $637 per person or 65,000 World of Hyatt points a night for single occupancy and $557 or 82,500 for double. The Ultimate Wellbeing Package starts at $669.

Almare, A Luxury Collection Resort, Isla Mujeres: Mexico
Opened last October on a jungle isle 20 minutes from Cancun by boat, Almare is the brand’s first foray into all-inclusive hospitality in Mexico. It’s an adults-only resort with 109 suites, an oceanfront pool and six food-and-beverage outlets dishing up Mayan and Mexican specialties like cactus salad, sipping chocolate and pumpkin seed mole — a fantastic choice if you’re the kind of person whose soul is nurtured by nature but whose heart demands soaking tubs, pillowy beds and private balconies.
Wake up with the sun and flow through a complimentary vinyasa alongside other early risers. Stroll the sugary beaches, where you can catch a movie later. Splash about the refreshing turquoise waters with a mocktail in hand, perhaps even one you learned to make in mixology class. Dive deep to make new friends on a large coral reef. Kayak through mangroves. Set sail to see the sunset. After all that, duck into Alma Spa to slip even further into a relaxed state with scalp massages, hydrotherapy pools, a salt room and paraffin hand dips.
Rooms at Almare start at $774 or 88,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.
We Care Spa: Desert Hot Springs, California
Coachella, golf and rehab aren’t the only reasons celebrities head to the Palm Springs area. Some — Reese Witherspoon, Alicia Silverstone, Donna Karan, Gwen Stefani, Cameron Diaz and Matt Bomer among them — regularly come to cleanse at this high-end and holistic detox center going strong since the late ‘80s. And they aren’t the only satisfied customers as the 20-acre, 21-suite desert compound dotted with Buddhist statues, bougainvillea and healing installations like a floating bed has a 70% guest return rate overall.
We Care’s finely honed methodology is multi-pronged: liquid fasting, two dozen informational classes, yoga, mental clarity exercises like Karuna reiki and hypnotherapy, infrared saunas, breath work and more than 40 proprietary spa treatments such as lymphatic stimulation, biofeedback, IVs and lactic acid washes. Some of it can be pretty woo-woo — drum circles, crystal sound baths, fire pit rituals that ask you to stand in your truth and meditation pyramids — or even as invasive as colonics, so come with an open mind to get the most out of it. Survival is rewarded with a checkout salad.
There are seven room types boasting contemporary design and wellness-minded features like juice bars, aromatherapy diffusers, sound machines, reverse osmosis water on tap, circadian light systems and air purifiers.
Two-, five- and seven-night programs are available at We Care Spa, and prices, which range from $2,159 to $10,049, depend on the length of stay and which accommodation you select. Spa treatments beyond colonics incur an extra cost.
Hermitage Bay: St. Mary’s, Antigua and Barbuda
Sun on your skin, breeze in your hair, steel drum melodies filling your ears, sundowner and organic canape in your hands, waves lapping your feet: sounds like the recipe for a perfect day for salt life lovers in desperate need of a reboot. Especially if those fans prefer intimate boutique hotels and have a stash of unused Hilton Honors points burning a hole in their virtual wallet as Caribbean charmer Hermitage Bay is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, which announced a partnership with Hilton last July.
The beachfront hillside hideaway on the western coast of Antigua recently upgraded its interiors, elevated eco-friendly policies and enhanced included wellness offerings. To start every day in the right headspace, head to the Garden Spa for yoga, Pilates and meditation classes. Private sessions are available for an added charge, as are a host of treatments such as the Dorissima color rituals like Red Empowerment and Green Balancing, designed to spark emotional and spiritual renewal and correspond to the body’s chakras. Then get your daily dose of vitamin D windsurfing, snorkeling, kayaking, piloting a Hobie Cat or floating in your suite’s personal pool.
Rooms at Hermitage Bay start at $2,351 or 150,000 Hilton Honors points per night.
Civana Wellness Resort & Spa: Carefree, Arizona
Steal away to this Sonoran Desert sanctuary and watch the stress melt away. Start days with intention setting and anti-inflammatory smoothies. Move into a hike or a ride on a complimentary bike that explores the nearby flora and fauna, or take some of the more than 70 fitness classes and mindfulness workshops, many of which are free, offered each week. Bonus points for variety. Think Pilates, aerial yoga, ecstatic dance, manifesting mindsets, an equine experience, numerology, feng shui, myofascial release and labyrinth walks.
After a nightly gratitude circle, visit the massive spa to cash in on your included spa treatment — guests get one for each booked night. On top of an array of massages and facials, opt for reiki, reflexology or Aquatherapy.
Or just take in the succulent-filled scenery from your private patio with a fresh cup of pour-over coffee, herbal tea or alkaline water from the hydration stations found across the property. Given the room’s calming color schemes, soft cotton bamboo linens and plush robes, we wouldn’t even judge you if you just stayed in bed all day.
Rates for Civana’s inclusive stays start at $1,560 per night.
The Retreat: Atenas, Costa Rica
Few destinations have been more widely associated with health and wellness in recent years than Costa Rica. There are plenty of places within the country to add extra pura to your vida, but few are more highly regarded than this posh 18-room mountainside mecca with commanding views of the dense jungle and vast Pacific, only 30 minutes from a major airport.
All guests get to enjoy the panoramas, saltwater pools, gym, steam room, reading room, hiking trails, daily yoga, nutritious organic cuisine and a spa constructed and designed using energy-balancing feng shui principles to optimize health, wealth, sex, love and luck. But the biggest benefit to staying at this boutique is that you choose the wellness program that will personally benefit you the most, whether you want to focus on emotional healing/unburdening from trauma, fat burning and fitness, sensual awakening, mastering menopause or slowing aging and boosting immunity through Ayurveda. The included consultations, menus, spa treatments, cooking classes and exercise regimens are tailored to each program and participant’s goals in hopes of teaching them techniques they can take home to achieve lasting transformation. You’ll also be filled with homemade granola and coffee from a nearby family-run plantation.
The Retreat Costa Rica’s package prices vary between $785 and $1,100 a night per person. Length-of-stay requirements also vary by program and range from three to seven nights minimum.
Couples Tower Isle: Ocho Rios, Jamaica
You can’t go wrong at any of the four tranquil adults-only all-inclusive resorts operated by Couples down in the land of Bob Marley, stunning waterfalls and ackee and saltfish. However, if you’re a sucker for a spa day, might we gently nudge you toward the 226-room Tower Isle?
Not for the flagship’s seven restaurants, free-flowing cocktails, piano bar with nightly live entertainment, salsa classes, singalongs, personalized minibar or even for the complimentary scuba diving, tennis lessons and unlimited golf. There’s even a private island just off the shore for sunbathing sans clothes if you’re into that sort of thing.
The real draw here, though, is the all-access pass to the spa menu when you choose to stay in one of eight Oasis Spa Villas. That means unlimited facials, massages, scrubs and other body work, which can be done in the comfort of your villa or just steps away from it in the gleaming all-white treatment rooms that envelop a pool adorned with a Buddha statue. Who better to guide you on your quest to reach vacation nirvana while therapists knead out knots, courtesy of cramped airplane seats, with heated bamboo rods?
Oasis Spa Villas at Couples Tower Isle start at $999 a night. The brand’s loyalty program, Romance Rewards, earns repeat guests discounts, local gifts, resort credits, advance reservations and member events/meals.
The Brando: Tetiaroa, French Polynesia
Paradise found. Turns out it can be reached in just 20 minutes via a private puddle jumper from French Polynesia’s international airport, was once the home of Oscar winner Marlon Brando, and is now the site of an eponymously named resort that is equal parts luxury, cultural authenticity and pioneering sustainability.
The side effect of earnestly maintaining those three principles is an atoll, flush with thriving greenery, crystalline water and unbothered wildlife; a healthy, calm environment in which humans, and their inner peace, can prosper; and a programming calendar that preserves old ways and stimulates the brain. (A lot of anti-aging research points to the health benefits of socializing, hobbies and learning new things, so sign up for the included Tahitian language class, pareu dying or palm frond weaving.)
The 35 villas, with their thatched roofs, ocean access, infinity plunges and large decks, are cocoons of solitude where guests will get some of the deepest sleep of their lives after ordering a late-night snack from 24-hour room service. They’ll rest especially well if they take out the outrigger canoe, attend a sound bath in an open-air hut or take advantage of the daily treatment that comes with the booking. The spa blends ancestral healing arts and modern techniques, sometimes in a little pod that looks like an upside-down nest made of twigs.
All-inclusive rates at The Brando start at $4,700 a night.
Tierra Patagonia: Torres del Paine National Park, Chile
Being a grown-up can be overwhelming. To reverse the effects of adulting, channel your inner child and go play outside. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better place to do that than Chilean Patagonia with its jagged granite spires, windswept Pampas (grasslands), wild animals, fresh air, towering walls of ice and striking trails. When it’s time to head in for the evening, make sure you’re doing so at this hidden haven a few miles from the main entrance to Torres del Paine National Park and overlooking Lake Sarmiento.
This is a place of quiet luxury where the building’s light lenga wood exterior and graceful curves blend into its surroundings, and the included three meals a day (plus cocktails) are made with locally sourced and foraged delicacies like rhubarb, king crab, berries and lamb. Many treatments at Uma Spa, such as a namesake ritual that incorporates a calafate scrub and maqui-infused mud, also deliver a thoughtful sense of place. With only 40 rooms, including newly renovated two-story suites, it won’t ever feel crowded on excursions whether you’re interested in visiting waterfalls and lagoons, Indigenous cave paintings or Grey Glacier. (Reservations come with either two half-day tours or a full-day adventure daily.)
The starting nightly rate at Tierra Patagonia is $2,094 per room for up to two guests.
Wild Rice Retreat: Bayfield, Wisconsin
If you haven’t already embraced the Danish concept of generating contentment through soft spaces and the simple things in life, it’s high time to add some hygge to your holiday. A worthy place to do that is the Midwest’s first all-inclusive wellness-centered resort, which opened on Lake Superior’s wooded shores in 2021.
Nineteen Scandinavian-inspired units create an inviting and soothing atmosphere, an important hygge tenet, through warm woods, fuzzy blankets and rugs, kitchenettes where a cup of something warm can be made, big picture windows that bring the outside stillness in and reading/napping nooks.
Stays include daily meals, use of the 24-hour cedar sauna and rain shower and daily movement and wellness classes. On any given day, you could talk brain health, be introduced to abhyanga (a self-massage technique), flow through sun salutations, stroll along brownstone cliffs, journal or learn to harness the power of rose quartz.
And you can do it all with your fur baby as the dog-friendly property provides a bed, food and water bowls, waste bags and welcome treats for an extra fee. After all, there’s tons of science about how interacting with pets increases feel-good hormones and reduces stress and anxiety.
Nightly rates at Wild Rice Retreat range from $279 and $512.

Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay: Nadi, Fiji
Sometimes all it takes to reframe your mental narrative is a friendly face and nobody in the world delivers a warmer welcome than Fijians. At the very least there are big grins and a national greeting, bula bula, which translates to good life, health and happiness. But there often are joyous rounds of song and dance and we dare you to stay tense while that’s happening.
It’s also impossible to not feel rejuvenated after catching a sunset from the infinity pool’s edge at Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay, or mermaiding through the lagoon’s crystalline waters. There you can get the blood pumping with nonmotorized water sports like stand-up paddleboarding that are part of the all-inclusive plan along with all meals and beverages. Choose from a wide range of room types. We’re partial to the adults-only overwater bungalows and oceanfront bures. Both are awash in natural light, which highlights the vaulted ceilings, freestanding soaking tubs and wide daybeds on private decks.
A night for two at Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay starts at $354 or 80,000 Marriott Bonvoy points. Point rates for a family/two rooms begin at 175,000 a night.

Twin Farms: Barnard, Vermont
The Green Mountains are calling and you should go — specifically to this 300-acre historic estate. Especially if the idea of stepping inside a Thomas Kinkade painting of a snowy village enamors you. Or if your racing thoughts slow at the mere mention of skating across a frozen pond, reading by a crackling fire, watercolor painting, viewing a premiere modern art collection or snowshoeing across private groomed trails.
Seasonal gastronomy is a huge part of the pampering here, with ingredients sourced from nearby farms and dairies or from within their property borders. Maple trees are tapped for syrup, hives provide honey and a garden yields produce and herbs. Chefs teach butchery and pasta making (comfort food is good for the soul, after all), as well as create bespoke picnics to be enjoyed in magical spots like The Lift Shack, even in the dead of winter. To warm up post-hike or -ski, sneak away to soak in the Japanese-style onsen in the woods for a different take on forest bathing. Just don’t forget to pack your mittens.
The starting rate at Twin Farms is $2,800 per room, per night for two people.
