If you have an Atmos Rewards credit card or recently earned one of the card’s welcome offers, there are key details you shouldn’t overlook.
TPGers have recently run into some restrictions with their Atmos Rewards cards when flying with Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines or using the card perks.
Here are four important things to know about the benefits and current offers on the Atmos Rewards cards.
The welcome offer’s flight discount code is restrictive
First of all, let’s go over the welcome offer on the personal Atmos Rewards cards to understand how the flight discount code works:
- Atmos™ Rewards Summit Visa Infinite® credit card: Earn 100,000 bonus points and a 25,000-point Global Companion Award after spending $6,500 on purchases in the first 90 days from account opening. Plus, receive a 50% flight discount code for a qualifying future flight after opening your new account. Based on TPG’s April 2026 valuations, this bonus is worth up to $1,750 when you include the value of the 25,000-point Global Companion Award.
- Atmos™ Rewards Ascent Visa Signature® credit card: Earn 80,000 bonus points and a $99 Companion Fare (plus taxes and fees from $23) after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first 120 days from account opening. Plus, receive a 50% flight discount code for a qualifying future flight after opening your new account. TPG’s valuations deem the points-only part of this offer at $1,120.
You’ll notice that both cards provide a 50% flight discount code for a qualifying Alaska or Hawaiian flight purchased with cash. However, when you dive into the cards’ terms and conditions, you’ll find that there are many rules you’ll need to take into consideration before you can actually use the discount codes.

Here’s a list of some of the most prominent restrictions:
Date restrictions
To use the discount code
- You must purchase your ticket by Sept. 30, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.
- The code is valid for travel taken from Sept. 8, 2026, through Nov. 18, 2026.
Route and day of week restrictions
The discount applies to flights to the following destinations when departing on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday:
- Hawaii
- Florida
- Guatemala
- Costa Rica
- Belize
- Mexico
The discount applies to flights departing from the above destinations on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday.
For all other eligible routes, the discount is valid only for flights departing on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday.
Carrier restrictions
You can use the discount code on a flight marketed by Alaska, Hawaiian, Horizon Air or SkyWest within North America. This excludes flights outside of North America and flights to and from Deadhorse Airport (SCC) in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska.
The code is not valid on codeshare flights.
Fare restrictions
- You can use the discount code on most Saver or Main Cabin fares. You cannot use the discount code on First Class or certain other economy class fares.
- You cannot use the discount code on award flights, vacation packages or contract fares.
Refunds and transferring
- You cannot receive a refund of the discount code if you cancel the booking.
- Tickets purchased with the discount code are not transferable.
Carly Helfand, TPG’s director of points, miles and credit card content, planned to use the discount code to book her husband’s ticket for a trip to Mexico. She had already booked her own flight, and adding him to the itinerary at the last minute would have cost $800 round-trip.
However, she later realized the code was only valid for travel between Sept. 8 and Nov. 18, meaning she couldn’t use it for this trip.
As you can see, the date range, eligible routes and even the days of the week you can fly on are restricted by specific guidelines. So, while this 50% discount code is a solid deal, it can also be tricky to use.

You have to pay with your Atmos Rewards card to receive free checked bags
With the Atmos Rewards Summit, the Atmos Rewards Ascent and the Atmos™ Rewards Visa Signature® Business Card, you’ll get a free checked bag on Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines for the cardholder and up to six guests on the same reservation.
However, there’s a very important guideline to consider: You must pay for your fare (or the taxes and fees for an award flight) with your eligible Atmos Rewards card to receive this benefit.
Don’t just assume you can check your bags for free when you fly Alaska or Hawaiian because you hold an Atmos Rewards card. You have to use that card to take advantage of the perk.

You have to pay with your Atmos Rewards Summit to have the partner redemption fee waived
The premium Atmos Rewards Summit comes with a useful perk if you like to book award flights with Atmos Rewards’ partners, such as American Airlines: You can have the $12.50 partner award fee waived.

However, like the free checked bag benefit, you have to pay taxes and any other fees with your Atmos Rewards Summit to have the partner award fee waived.
If you use a different card, the partner booking fee will apply, even if you’re a Summit cardholder.

Atmos Rewards Summit’s Wi-Fi passes aren’t transferable, but lounge passes are
Atmos Rewards Summit cardholders also want to factor in some expiration rules and policies around two quarterly benefits: Alaska Lounge passes and Wi-Fi passes.

Atmos Rewards Summit cardholders get:
- Two Alaska Lounge passes
- Two Wi-Fi passes
The Wi-Fi passes cannot be transferred and simply expire each quarter if you do not use them.
However, you can transfer your quarterly Alaska Lounge passes to others if you won’t be able to use them that quarter.
This is important to note if you want to maximize your benefits on the Atmos Rewards Summit but aren’t flying with Alaska multiple times each quarter.

Bottom line
The welcome bonuses and benefits on the Atmos Rewards cards are valuable, but it’s important you understand the fine print before you use them.
You may want to reference this article when you use your 50% discount code, as there are many specific restrictions to keep in mind when redeeming it.
Overall, just be sure to pay with your Atmos Rewards card when you want to use your benefits. Plus, remember that your quarterly benefits on the Atmos Rewards Summit will expire — and you can’t transfer the Wi-Fi passes, but you can transfer the Alaska Lounge passes.
