The newest mid-tier credit card on the market launched in select Wells Fargo branches in early March. Now, the Wells Fargo Autograph Journey℠ Card (see rates and fees) is available online and nationwide at Wells Fargo branches with a valuable sign-up bonus.

The Autograph Journey, the mid-tier version of the no-annual-fee Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card (see rates and fees), comes with a $50 annual statement credit after a minimum $50 airline purchase and valuable earnings rates on travel and dining. It has a $95 annual fee.

Here’s a look at the welcome offer on the new Wells Fargo Autograph Journey Card.

Wells Fargo Autograph Journey Card

Current welcome bonus: Earn 60,000 bonus rewards points after spending $4,000 in the first three months. Points can be redeemed with Wells Fargo Rewards at a value of 1 cent each, making this bonus worth $600.

However, you can get outsize value from your points by transferring them to travel partners. With Wells Fargo points valued by TPG at 1.6 cents each, this bonus value increases to $960.

Annual fee: $95

Earning rate: Earn 5 points per dollar spent at hotels, 4 points per dollar spent on airline purchases, 3 points per dollar spent on other travel and restaurant purchases, and 1 point per dollar spent on other purchases.

Why we like it: Along with its valuable earnings rates, the Autograph Journey comes alongside the upcoming launch of Wells Fargo’s first-ever transfer partners, a program it’s billing as “Points Transfer.”

You can transfer your points to five airline programs — Air France-KLM Flying Blue, Avianca LifeMiles, British Airways Executive Club, Aer Lingus AerClub and Iberia Plus (the latter three all earning Avios). You can also transfer to one hotel program, Choice Privileges.

On top of redeeming rewards for travel, statement credits or gift cards at, you’ll enjoy perks like a secondary auto rental collision damage waiver, travel and emergency services assistance, roadside dispatch and complimentary access to your FICO credit score. You’ll also get cellphone protection against damage or theft when you pay your monthly bill with the Autograph Journey (subject to a $25 deductible per claim).

Finally, the card’s $50 annual statement credit for airline purchases ($50 minimum purchase required) effectively cuts the $95 annual fee by more than half, making this card well worth the while if you can take advantage of its welcome offer, earnings rates and transfer partners.

Application rules and restrictions

Before you commit to applying for this offer, you’ll want to verify your eligibility for the Autograph Journey. Here’s the official language on most Wells Fargo credit card applications:

You may not qualify for an additional Wells Fargo credit card if you have opened a Wells Fargo credit card in the last 6 months. We may also limit the total number of open Wells Fargo credit card accounts you have.

Bottom line

The Wells Fargo Autograph Journey has valuable earnings rates and a solid welcome offer to go alongside the launch of its first-ever transfer partners.

If you want a simple, inexpensive travel rewards credit card with points that could become even more valuable as its transfer partner network grows, it could be a card that makes sense for you.

This card competes with other popular mid-tier travel rewards credit cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, so you’ll want to compare your options to choose the best card for you.
